Today was mostly a travel day. First we went to Scott’s church, Latitude Church in New Bern. We were able to meet a couple more of his friends there.
The sermon was entitled Just Grab a Corner and I thought it was very good. It was on the story of the paralytic whose friends let him down through a hole in the roof to where Jesus was. The whole premise of the sermon was that we need to get people to Jesus because they are sinners. (He coined the phrase paralyzed purpose to fit the story. Cute, but we’ll just call it sin.) This guy’s friends risked everything they had to get their friend to Jesus. Each of them “grabbed a corner” and brought him to Jesus, where he was healed both physically and spiritually. The challenge was to grab a corner as long as there is one.
We took off right from the church and headed west on US-70, stopping a couple times during the six-hour drive to stretch/refresh or to eat.
First stop was in Raleigh, at the North Carolina Museum of Art. Reminded me a bit of Meijer Gardens, with a large outdoor sculpture park and some indoor exhibits. We walked the trails for a while for some exercise and viewed some of the indoor galleries for a bit. Deb could have probably stayed all day. I’m not really an art museum guy and we had many miles to cover so we hit the road again. We stopped at a rest area just west of Winston-Salem and made dinner and took another short walk. Next stop was here at the Cove where we arrived just as it was getting dark.
Tomorrow is another work day. Starting the second week.
