Lotsa Lights

I thought I was getting close to done.  I replaced several more outdoor light fixtures today, and put a new light at the entrance gate.  Bo wanted a light at the entrance gate to allow the camera that faces that direction to have a good image and to illuminate the sign.  By angling the light slightly, I was able to accomplish both. I took a picture after dark and was happy with the results.  I love it when a plan comes together.

It turns out I am not done.  We took a walk after dinner as it was getting dark and Bo came by slowly in his truck.  He was surveying the lights and found at least four that were still out.  There’s so many lights in this camp, that I missed those four.  And I still didn’t see them on our walk back when I was looking for them.

Weatherwise, today was a carbon copy of yesterday, but about five degrees warmer.  I was in shirt sleeves by 10:30am instead of noon.  Some of our activities here depend on the weather.  I’m sort-of insulated from this by working on the lights, but some of the others are working on things that eventually need to be painted.  Doors, picnic tables, mini-golf areas, etc.  The painting has to wait until the temperature is high enough and the dew dries off, so it’s build and fix in the morning and paint in the afternoon.  Me, it’s just replace light fixtures, all day.

Not that I’m complaining.  I get to be the one running around on an old lift with one flat tire that tends to leave its operator stranded in the air at inopportune times.  It leaves a trail of hydraulic oil and moves at a top speed of 2 miles per hour.  So the commute times between one end of the camp and the other tend to be rather long. You always know where I am.  Just follow the dribbles.

For devotions this morning, one of the SOWERs reminded us of the need to not let the tyranny of the urgent get crowd out the important.  The urgent is stuff that demands to be done right now.  The important is stuff like relationships, especially our relationship with God, that suffers when we let the urgent take control.  A great reminder for us all.

After finishing up for the day, most of us gathered around for a couple rounds of Scatter. Great time of fun at the end of a pleasant day.

Yours truly, replacing a light fixture.  There was no one to take a picture of the picture-taker, so it had to be a selfie.  Always an interesting endeavor on a lift in close proximity to live electrical wires.😬

A view of the camp from the lift.  That's Faye and Debi working on the mural

Home Again

We’re home.  We made the usual stop in Shipshewana, Indiana at Deb’s favorite grocery store, then came straight home, arriving at about 1pm....
