Week 1 In the Books

The planning and anticipating goes on for months and all-of-a-sudden, the first week is done.  Only two more to go.  We work four-day work weeks, six hours per day, so the week goes pretty quickly.  We’ve done pretty much everything we can in the Lake House, but will probably be in there again when additional supplies are available.  The kitchen still needs the sink installed, the cabinet pulls need to be put in, and I’m sure there’s more on Lee’s list.

We spent the day in 309, repairing some water damage on the wall and painting the living room and kitchen.  Still to be done: paint in the bathroom and both bedrooms.

The women spent their day in the thrift store, sorting and pricing items to be placed on the floor.  Deb describes the thrift store as barely organized chaos.  Often understaffed, the back room is piled high with stuff waiting to be sorted.  A couple of trailers outside are full of extra merchandise donated by the Walmart in the next town.  How they keep on top of these mountains of stuff we don’t know.  But she said it was a nice alternative to painting.

I haven’t taken many pictures, as once you’ve seen one picture of someone painting a wall, it looks just like any other picture of someone painting a wall.  I have, however, taken a few pictures using the drone.

I was wondering just how far this property went and I asked Austin, one of the maintenance guys this morning.  He told me it goes to the cemetery on Sam Potts Highway, about 90 acres for the horse farm and some additional land for the main campus. So I attempted to show the boundaries on an aerial photo.  This is a big place, probably the biggest land owner in Lake Waccamaw.

Home Again

We’re home.  We made the usual stop in Shipshewana, Indiana at Deb’s favorite grocery store, then came straight home, arriving at about 1pm....
