Colorado Bound

Packing for this trip was a bit different than  prior trips.  We are used to just stuffing the fridge in the RV and taking off, since nearly everything is already there.  This time, however, we had to think about what was going along, because everything had to be packed into small suitcases and taken with us on a plane.  A lot of that stuff came out of the RV.

The trip was uneventful, for which we were thankful, and we met up with Terry and Jill at the Enterprise rental car place near the Denver airport.  We ended up with a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, as the 4-wheel drive may come in handy for some of the mountains roads we were looking at taking.

This particular car is a plug-in hybrid, but the EV battery is nearly dead.  The rental company will apparently ensure the gas tank is full, but not the battery.  This is another thing I’ve never had to do before: look for charging stations.

On the way to Colorado Springs, Deb spotted a stand along the road selling fresh peaches.  We stopped there but didn’t pick any up because of sticker shock.  The little boxes of peaches started at fifteen bucks.  Probably somewhere around five bucks a peach.

We’re now at the MCM Elegante Suites Hotel in Colorado Springs.  Kind of a fancy name for an inexpensive hotel, but it’s decent and clean.  The guy at the desk looked at me blankly when I asked if they had a vehicle charging station.  I guess we will continue to drive on an empty battery.

Home Again

We’re home.  We made the usual stop in Shipshewana, Indiana at Deb’s favorite grocery store, then came straight home, arriving at about 1pm....
