Lessons From Max

For devotions this morning, we talked about something Max said.  Ten-year-old Max is a boy with no sit in his sitter. A chair is something that is pushed around or a tool to make you taller.  He has no filter and just says what is on his mind.

The other day it was his turn to set the table for dinner.  When he did, the utensils were all placed haphazardly on one side of each plate.  When called out on it, Max said he knew the right way to do it, he just didn’t want to do it that way.  “I just want to do it MY way,” he said.

And doesn’t that often describe us? We know God’s law, we know what God wants.  We just want to do it “MY way.”  Even when it gets us into trouble.

I’ll bet Max had no idea he was teaching a lesson.

More of the same today.  I now have completed the base trim in two bedrooms, a bathroom and the hallway.  There is one bedroom remaining, but it has two closets.  I ran out of trim so Steven got some more from Home Depot.  He had to sort through their pile to find the best ones and even those had lots of knots and chips.  It’s a good thing this bedroom has two closets as I have lots of closet pieces.

Deb continued painting in the master bedroom, spending quite a bit of time in those same closets.

We learned that the new staff member that will be moving in here is anxious to begin the process so we may see some stuff moved in over the weekend.  Just that much more to work around in addition to what’s already there.

We have now completed one week of work here at the ranch.  We’ll take off and do some exploring tomorrow and Saturday and be back on Sunday.

Home Again

We’re home.  We made the usual stop in Shipshewana, Indiana at Deb’s favorite grocery store, then came straight home, arriving at about 1pm....
