More of the Same

I only took one picture today.  The work we did today was identical to the work last week: take out rotted railing boards around the deck of the chapel, replace with new, patch the screw holes, and paint.  Somehow, I got the job of removing the old boards.  Just call me El Destructo. Primary tools in use: hammer, wrecking bar and Sawzall. The other two guys did quite a bit of sanding and painting.  The picture I took was of a post that was too rotted to hold a screw.  When I pulled the railing boards off, the powdered wood just fell out of place.

This one was a bit above my pay grade, so it was tabled until one of the guys in charge could have a look at it and determine how far to tear into it.

Did I mention before that everything in this area is a steep walk up or down?  Working on this deck was no exception.  There are stairs going everywhere.  And those steps were usually taken carrying some sort of tool or supplies. At the end of the day, I was feeling it.

Deb worked in the chapel again today.  I think there were a total of 8 people that came through this afternoon, so she sat most of the time.  She worked through all the prayer cards, read her book and went stir crazy.

I talked with Mike afterwards and mentioned that Deb was a bit frustrated that she was doing so little.  He told me that this project is atypical and the women usually have plenty to do.  A lot of time, it’s painting.  Deb does not enjoy painting.  The prospect of doing more projects of this nature is not looking real good right now.

Tomorrow, Deb will be doing laundry.  I’ve never seen her so excited to do laundry.

  1. Maybe I could put "Data" (Deb) on an Internet Scavenger Hunt for some elusive RV parts?

Home Again

We’re home.  We made the usual stop in Shipshewana, Indiana at Deb’s favorite grocery store, then came straight home, arriving at about 1pm....
