Checking Off the List

We finished the axe throwing area this morning.  Targets are all up, divider screens are up, and once the targets are painted, it will be ready for this weekend, when 430 kids descend on this place for the weekend.  While that means it will be busy this weekend and we won’t just have the run of the place, it also means that we will have meals provided for, and the meals have been really good.

The finished product, before we cleaned everything up:

We appreciated having a roof over our heads as it rained lightly this morning.

The women painted.  There’s enough here where they will be painting for probably the entire three weeks.  Both the SOWER group and the RVICS group are working the same job in the same area so it's a lot of women all up on ladders painting the same area.

A couple of the women helped with the laundry.  As you can imagine, after a weekend with 400 kids, the piles of laundry were rather impressive.  And this coming weekend it happens all over again.

After lunch we were directed to replace a top rail in a play structure.  Wood doesn’t last forever and this particular piece was quite rotted.  Remove all the spindles, cut and install a new rail, and re-install all the spindles.  We were done with this by 3:15.  There were just four of us working on it.  Two others were re-caulking 14 showers in the Four Seasons building, and two more were re-leveling settled bricks in one of the patios.  So it was a divide-and-conquer day.

The completed project.  Check another one off the list!

Home Again

We’re home.  We made the usual stop in Shipshewana, Indiana at Deb’s favorite grocery store, then came straight home, arriving at about 1pm....
