Today was a day reserved for packing. It’s gonna take some planning and finesse to get six weeks of living in just over 100 square feet of space. Some stuff like food will be purchased periodically while on the road but one thing that can be a bit scarce is a good laundromat. So packing enough socks and shirts to last between laundry days is essential. The weather adds a wildcard to this. At this time of year, we’ll have to plan for hot and cold weather, which multiplies the amount of clothing coming along. Rather than taking bulky overcoats for colder weather, we’ll just pack thinner clothing like hoodies and layer-up when the temperature drops.
As I was getting the kayaks out of the barn this morning, I got a text from Stephanie.
Of course we couldn’t turn this down. They were doing some shopping and we were more than willing to take him for a while. So our packing was put on hold while we took our grandson to the library to see the big truck display, to the local John Deere dealer to look at all the tractors and to sit and drive the RV for a while.Deb managed to get some of the food into the fridge during this time, so we did make some forward progress. We’ll have to finish up some packing tomorrow after the Lakeside Service held by our church.
Deb read to him for a while on the bed in the RV. We’re trying to get him warmed up to the idea of traveling with us sometime, an idea that has a huge gateway in the form of his mother, who is convinced that all RVs are deathtraps. He may warm up to the idea, but, so far, Mom is unconvinced.
So, for now, we will be traveling with just the two of us.
