Started out a bit on the chilly side but shaped up to be a beautiful day with light winds (a rarity in these parts) and temperatures in the upper 60’s. While working in the Gulf Coast North Lodge this morning we spotted a fin in the water less than a hundred feet from the breakwater. We watched it swim for a bit, remarking that it didn’t swim like a dolphin. It was on the large side also, perhaps eight feet long, and it just lazed along the shore for a while. We finally identified it as a shark. Rob told us that sharks are seen regularly, although they are not the aggressive type seen in some popular movies.
I did manage to see a dolphin later on in the day in the same area, and it was easily identifiable as a dolphin.
We finished framing up the holes in the walls for the air conditioners, now all we need is air conditioners. So we boarded up the openings again and moved on to other projects. Stage extenders in the conference center that are unstable with too many people on them. A door frame needing to be fixed up in the Roberts Conference Building. A railing that needed to be installed on the boat dock. A “distro” electrical panel needing to be installed in the conference center (That one is getting rather involved as it may need additional power lines from the utility pole and a larger transformer from the local electrical utility). Replacement of a water faucet in the RV area. And a bunch of other things.
The women continued their work on the benches, making good progress.
We took advantage of the weather once work was done to play a little pickleball. This was our first introduction to pickleball and we had a lot of fun with it. Our teachers, Kenneth and Lisa, didn’t have a whole lot more experience than us so it was nice to play with an evenly-matched couple.
We won, two games out of three.
Nice evening for a walk after supper, we’re taking our opportunity to walk before it turns colder. It’s supposed to be down to 20 degrees on Monday night and some of our tasks tomorrow will probably be to cover a lot of the exposed plumbing to prevent the pipes from freezing.
